WHAT IS HALAL?

Halal means that products such as foods,cosmetics,pharmaceuticals and other consumer goods are manufactured in accordance to the requirements of the Islamic faith and are therefore sharia-compliant,ie safe for consumption by devout Muslims.In the case of cosmetics this means that halal-certified beauty products must not contain alcohol(or at least they may only contain a very small percentage of alcohol,depending on the regional market)or ingredients derived from dead animals,such as carmine in lipsticks or animal-derived emollient substances like gelatin,collagen or placenta in face and body care.In addition,the entire supply chain must also be halal-certified.For example,a factory space where halal cosmetics are manufactured cannot be used to manufacture or store non-halal products or ingredients.Similar strictures apply to handling,packaging,transport and logistics,which must also be 100% halal-compliant.
