Latin America’s direct-reduced ironproduction totaled 565,000 mt in August, down2% from 577,000 mt in the year-ago month,World Steel Association estimates showedThursday.Production was down 1.7% from 575,000mt in July, Worldsteel said.In the first eight months of 2017, the regionproduced 5.23 million mt, up 10.8% year onyear from 4.72 million mt.
