Steel mills concerned on pellet pricing using 65% Fe index

From Europe to South Americaand in Japan, the move by Vale and otherminers to propose a switch to 65% Fe finesindex pricing in pellet contracts from the62% Fe benchmark IODEX has been met withconcern in the steel industry.A change to 65% Fe fines pricing,which tracks high grade Carajas iron oreproduced by Vale and is also a benchmarkused by iron ore concentrates such assinter feed and pellet feed, may be limitedin spot liquidity and range of companies participating in the high grade segment,steel sources said this month.
