NSSMC to reline Muroran BF in 2020, restart Nagoya coke battery

Japan’s largest integrated mill,Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corpannounced Friday that the company decidedto reline the No.2 blast furnace at itsMuroran works in Hokkaido.No.2 furnace is the only blast furnace atits Muroran works, and has been operatingsince November 2001. It is owned by ajoint venture called Hokkai Iron & Coke,held 80% by NSSMC and 20% by MitsubishiSteel Works.
