NLMK to use new technology to boost coke quality, lower costs

Russian mining and steel companyNLMK is introducing stamp chargingtechnology at its coke producer Altai-Koksthat should increase coke quality and henceblast furnace efficiency while reducingproduction costs.Costs could fall by 10%, according toexperts’ estimates, thanks to a larger share ofnon-premium coal grades. These will partiallyreplace such grades as Zh and K which are morecostly because they are in deficit in Russia.
