Iron ore production at Brazilianintegrated steelmaker CompanhiaSiderurgica Nacional (CSN) plummeted 22%in the first quarter of 2018 to 6.12 million mtfrom 7.85 million mt in Q1 2017, due to heavyrains and limited tailings dam utilization, thecompany said Tuesday.The decrease in output boosted thecompany’s purchases of iron ore from thirdparties by 988% to 1.48 million mt from 137,000mt in Q1 2017, it added.
