US cokemaker SunCoke expects slight uptick in 2018 output

SunCoke Energy is expectingdomestic output of 3.9 million st this year, aslight improvement over the 3.85 million st ofcoke produced in 2017, the Lisle, Illinois-basedcompany said Wednesday.The company's coke is used in blastfurnace production of steel, and sold underlong-term, take-or-pay contracts thatpass through commodity costs -- such asmetallurgical coal-- and certain other operatingcosts to customers.
