Ferrochrome prices increasedas demand from Chinese mills jumped amidgrowing stainless steel production andrestocking activity before the Lunar New Year,plus weaker dollar against the South Africanrand and yuan, industry sources said Friday.S&P Global Platts assessed high-carbonferrochrome with 58-60% chrome content at91-93 cents/lb CIF China on Friday, up from89-92 cents/lb on January 5. Charge chromewith 48-52% chrome content was assessed at92-94 cents/lb CIF China, up from 89-91 cents/lb last week.
