The US exported 75,718 mtof ferrous scrap from East Coast portsto Thailand in October, as exporters tookadvantage of the roughly 10% pricingpremium for ferrous scrap in Asia versusTurkey that persisted earlier this year.In October the US exported 38,546 mt outof Boston and 36,860 mt out of New York Cityto Thailand. The shipments were primarilyshredded scrap (55,499 mt) and heavy meltingscrap 1&2 (16,390 mt) — and the overalltonnage was the most sent from the US East Coast to Thailand since April 2011.The only substantial tonnage exportedfrom the US West Coast to Thailand inOctober was 44,092 mt out of Columbia-Snake in the Pacific Northwest.
