Singapore—Chinese iron ore imports took a breather in August, falling 11% month on month to 100.36 million mt, as volumes from Australia dropped to a five-month low of 55.7 million mt, data from the General Administration of Customs showed. Imports from India, Ukraine and Russia fell to 4.5 million mt, 2.2 million mt and 1.1 million mt respectively. Logistical issues and recovery of demand ex-China contributed to the declines, according to sources.
