Singapore—Prices for domestic light grade scrap in southern Vietnam remained rangebound this week. However, product demand is worsening amid orders for the suspension of non-urgent construction projects to control the spread of COVID-19, sources said. Bids for light grade 1-3 mm thick scrap delivered to mills in the southern regions were in the range of Dong 5,600-5,800/kg ($238- $247/mt) Thursday, with the midpoint slipping by only Dong 25/mt from a week ago. Prices were mainly steady as mills adopted a wait-and-see approach for further clarity.
