CIS pig iron exports on hold as buyers in China off for holidays

London—CIS merchant pig iron prices softened further due to limited market outlets as the bulk of exports remain on pause in the absence of Chinese buyers celebrating the Golden Week holiday. There have been no real deals to Italy either, according to an Italian trader, who sees the working price at $370-$375/mt CIF Italy. This still has to close the gap with producers’ wishing price of $378-$380 CIF. On an FOB Black Sea basis, the ranges equate to $352-$357 and $360- $362, respectively.
