Ramaco reduces operations at Berwind coal mine in Appalachia

Houston—Ramaco Resources will partially close its Berwind mine complex on the border of Virginia and West Virginia as a result of weakness in the metallurgical coal market, the company said July 13. Roughly 44 miners will be let go from the low-vol mine, effective immediately. The Berwind mine will continue to run at a reduced rate to service existing customer commitments, the company added.
