Turkish deepsea scrap softens; lower-priced short-sea trades heard

London—Deepsea Turkish import scrap market activity remained low June 23, as workable indications were heard lower. S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20) at $260/mt CFR on June 23, down $1/mt on day. “The mills are silent, and the price is expected to drop below $260. If the silence continues for a few weeks more as expected, then US recyclers will also accept below $260,” a Turkish trading source said. A second trading source said US recyclers were unwilling to go below $260/mt CFR at the moment.
