Asia met coal PLV FOB gains briefly; eyes on tenders

Singapore—Asia-Pacific regional metallurgical coal PLV FOB prices saw a brief uptick while prices to China took a respite from the upward momentum as market participants awaited a PLV tender result for clearer indication on price directions. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol up 50 cents/mt at $113.50/mt FOB Australia Sept. 10 while PLV CFR China was flat at $125.50/mt CFR China. A sell tender for a Panamax volume of an Australian Premium Low Vol Peak Downs with Oct. 1-10 laycan was issued Sept. 10 seeking bids in the spot market. Sources said the bids could be on FOB Australia or CFR China on fixed price basis. The sell tender is expected to end on Sept. 11, sources said.
