Turkish import scrap prices up on fresh deals

London—Deepsea Turkish import scrap prices rose further July 22, as mills concluded further August shipment cargoes with Baltic and US recyclers. S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20) at $267.50/mt CFR on July 22, up $2/mt on day, to reach their highest level since June 16. A Baltic-origin cargo was booked July 21 by an Iskenderun mill, with 13,000 mt of HMS 1/2 (95:5) at $273/mt CFR. The latest shipment date was cited as August 19, with the deal confirmed by the buyer. The deal was normalized to $268.50/mt CFR for premium HMS 1/2 (80:20) in line with Platts methodology.
