Northern and Southern EU scrap prices diverge for June contracts

London—Early indications for Northern European domestic ferrous scrap prices for June were heard lower amid persistently weak finished steel demand, sources told S&P Global Platts June 10. Platts assessed Northern Europe domestic shredded scrap at Eur230-Eur235/mt delivered for June, down from Eur235-Eur240/mt delivered in May. A German mill was heard to settle contracts for shredded scrap at around Eur230/mt delivered to mill, while other mills in the region have not yet agreed contracts during the first round of negotiations.
