Pittsburgh—US scrap market participants are holding expectations of stability for the remainder of the fourth quarter as the November trade draws closer. The prospect of firmer scrap prices ahead of October buying in the US faded to sideways once trading began Oct. 6, leaving some market participants with uncertain or negative outlooks on the remainder of the year. The bearish attitudes are heard to have subsided mid-month as several sources expect sideways pricing for November.
