Japanese FOB scrap edges up, suppliers raise offers

Singapore—Japanese seaborne scrap prices rose over the week to July 15, as suppliers continued to push up offers, sources said. S&P Global Platts assessed the Japanese H2 FOB Tokyo Bay spot price at Yen 23,500/mt ($219/mt) on July 15, up Yen 500/mt on the week. Four cargoes totaling 12,000 mt of H1:H2 50:50 scrap were sold to Taiwan $6/m higher on week at $246/mt CFR on July 10, 13 and 14, which after normalizing for freight and grade equated to an H2 FOB level of Yen 22,800/mt.
