London—Miner Vale said iron ore prices have outperformed most other commodities even as the COVID-19 pandemic hit steel demand globally and increases price volatility, as blast furnaces in China “remained firm” and Chinese iron ore supplies fell. Vale said steel and pig iron production has been strong in China since the start of the year, with first quarter output growth seen year on year, the company said in a quarterly report.
