Asian met coal prices flat on thin activities

Singapore—Spot prices in the Asian metallurgical coal market were unchanged Thursday with many Chinese market participants gradually withdrawing from the market. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol unchanged at $163/mt CFR China, and the PLV FOB Australia at $152.50/mt Thursday. Negotiations were still ongoing Thursday for a widely anticipated Premium Low Vol buy tender for February laycan by a major Chinese steelmaker. Market sources expect negotiations to conclude Friday.
