Tokyo Steel raises bids for ferrous scrap prices first time in five weeks

Singapore—Japanese domestic scrap prices got a boost in sentiments Oct. 20, as leading electric arc furnace mill Tokyo Steel Manufacturing raised its local scrap bids, after seeing sideways pricing since Sept. 15, a source from the company said Oct. 19. Listed bids for various scrap grades were raised for its Okayama mill by Yen 500/mt ($4.7/mt), to Yen 26,000/mt, effective Oct. 21, while prices at its other three mills remained unchanged.
