South African lockdown may support chrome ore prices

London—As the South African government moves to enforce a 21-day lockdown, effective midnight Thursday, to help curb the spread of COVID-19, South African chrome producers believe the move could provide some support for chrome ore prices. Chrome stocks have reduced in China from where they were at the beginning of the year, Ilja Graulich, Tharisa head of investor relations and communications, told S&P Global Platts in an interview.
