Ukraine pig iron export down in 2019 despite new China market

London—Despite the emergence of China as a new market for pig iron exports from Ukraine, exports showed a double digit fall in 2019 on lower output from the country’s main producer and a change in the export mix, Ukrainian Industry Expertise (UEX), a Kyiv-based consulting company said Tuesday. At 2.58 million mt, Ukraine's pig iron exports last year were down 14.2% on 2018. The drop last year came after a 37.2% jump in exports seen in 2018 compared with 2017.
