China recycling body asks for relaxation of scrap import rules

Singapore—The Chinese industry body for scrap metal recycling cited its continued efforts to push for the country to allow imports of ferrous scrap, Li Shubin, executive vice president of the China Association of Metal Scrap Utilization (CAMU), said in an interview with China Metallurgical News released Tuesday. As Chinese mills push for the lifting of import bans and restrictions on scrap in place since the second half of 2019, CAMU has been among those spearheading this drive.
