Midrex, AMI team up to offer remote, automated DRI-EAF steelmaking

London—Direct reduction ironmaking technologist Midrex Technologies and control solutions company AMI Automation have struck an accord to provide steelmakers worldwide with a process optimization system for DRI-based integrated electric arc furnace steel mills, Midrex said Sept. 10. The alliance aims to facilitate steelmakers’ use of Midrex’s and AMI’s digital tools and process know-how to remotely streamline and optimize performance in the DRI/EAF process, from iron ore reduction to liquid steel production, Midrex said.
