摘要

London—Vale plans to invest up to $100 million to develop an industrial-size dry magnetic concentration plant for the processing of iron ores with low iron content, without the use of tailings dams, the Brazilian miner said Thursday. The process, named Fines Dry Magnetic Separation (FDMS), was developed by New Steel, a company acquired by Vale in 2018 and which had previously operated a pilot plant using this technology at Vale’s Fabrica iron ore mine in Minas Gerais state, southeastern Brazil.
