Met coal trade focuses on post crisis demand

London—Atlantic met coal markets Thursday saw participants looking further out at trade opportunities in the second half of 2020, as steel mills generally wait out purchasing plans during the second quarter and US mines return after idling. Steel companies are cutting steel output and managing contract volumes for raw materials with available cashflows. Trade may be focusing on serving demand when steel operating rates after the coronavirus crisis are better known.
