Singapore—Taiwan’s leading electric arc furnace steelmaker, Feng Hsin Iron and Steel, lowered bid levels for domestic scrap effective Sept. 24, amid a flush of seaborne offers, a source at the mill said Sept. 23. The company's bid for local HMS I/II 80:20 was cut to T$8,200/ mt ($282/mt), down T$300/mt from Sept. 21, for deliveries to its Taichung mill. The reduction was made amid shaky price expectations in the market since Sept. 21, following weaker seaborne indications from the US and Japan, market sources said.
