Taiwan containerized scrap price forges ahead for 6th week

Singapore—Containerized scrap prices to Taiwan moved up for the sixth straight week, as buyers raised bids amid scant offers, sources said. The S&P Global Platts daily TSI HMS I/II 80:20 containerized scrap spot price was assessed at $268/mt CFR Taiwan Aug. 21, up $8/mt on the week. Buying indications firmed towards the end of the week started Aug. 16, to $265/mt CFR levels for US origin scrap. But even at this level, volumes were hard to come by, sources said.
