Turkish deepsea import scrap prices stable as mills step back

London—Deepsea Turkish import scrap prices remained unchanged at a 2020 high, as Turkish mills were heard to step back from the market, sources said. S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20) at $302.50/mt CFR on Sept. 10, unchanged on day. “I don’t see much upside now, and perhaps there are 20 cargoes left for October shipment, but a lot of mills already have their September purchases in stock and have already bought half of their October shipment, which should be sufficient for a while,” a Turkish mill source said, citing a tradable value for premium HMS 1/2 (80:20) at $300-$305/mt CFR and indicative offers for premium material at $305-$310/mt CFR.
