Singapore—The Asia-Pacific metallurgical coal spot market saw several bookings made for the different grades, leading to a divergence in price direction for the premium and lower grade coals. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol coal down $4.50/ mt day on day at $109/mt FOB Australia on July 14, and PLV CFR China down $6/mt at $121/mt CFR China. In the spot market, a widely watched buy tender issued by a Chinese steelmaker was concluded July 14 at $120.90/mt CFR China, for a Panamax cargo of Australian Premium Low Vol Saraji coal for a August 1-20 laycan. This came with sellers' option to deliver Peak Downs at $121.90/mt CFR China.
