Japanese FOB Kanto scrap prices snap three-week losing streak

Singapore—The Japanese seaborne scrap market saw its first hike in prices after three weeks, with its existing expectation gap between buy and sell side widening on the week, sources said. S&P Global Platts assessed the Japanese H2 FOB Tokyo Bay spot price at Yen 28,000/mt ($266/mt) on Oct. 14, up Yen 700/mt from a week ago. Price expectations from both buyers and sellers widened further within the week, with South Korean mills seeking H2 material at Yen 26,000-26,500/mt FOB, down from indications of Yen 27,000/mt a week ago.
