US HRC LME forward curve maintains strong contango

Pittsburgh—The London Metal Exchange’s US hot-rolled coil forward curve maintained a strong contango the week ended July 3, as an uncertain near-term market outlook continued to exert pressure on the front-month contract. Other than the front- and 15-month contracts, the forward curve moved higher as contracts reset on July 1. The July contract moved $11 lower over the week and settled at $479.50/st, while the August contract increased by $13.50 to $502.50/st.
