Singapore—China’s crude steel output stayed fairly stable over Aug. 20-31, and in September, government-mandated production cuts in Hebei province are likely to constrain output, but that impact will be limited asexpected strong downstream demand will give other steelmakers a reason to boost production, market sources said. The China Iron & Steel Association estimated the country's crude steel production over Aug. 20-31 at an average of 2.98 million mt/day, down 0.12% from Aug. 10-20 but up 6.5% on the year.
