Turkish import scrap prices hit 2-month high on fresh US, EU cargoes

London—Deepsea Turkish import scrap prices inched up further to a two-month high on June 4, after further US and EU-origin cargoes were heard booked. S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20) at $258.25/mt CFR, up $3.25/mt on day. The assessment reached its highest level since March 17 when it sat at $262/mt CFR, prior to a sharp $55/mt drop to a four-year low of $207/mt on March 30, as coronavirus-related demand concerns hit prices.
