Asian PLV met coal prices rise on robust demand

Singapore—Metallurgical coal prices in the Premium Low Vol segment increased Thursday on the back of robust demand for the grade. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol up $1.50/mt day on day at $116.50/mt FOB Australia Thursday, while PLV CFR China was up $1.50/mt at $125/mt CFR China. Asian met coal market prices have rebounded on firm buying interest for spot cargoes in China. Market sources said that arbitrage opportunities and concerns over further tightening of port-related policies incentivized China-based buyers to purchase more cargoes in the near term.
