Turkey's January-July ore imports decline; zero from Australia, Canada

London—As some Turkish blast furnace based steel producers reduced their output and concluded maintenance work due to the coronavirus outbreak in the second quarter, Turkish mills' iron ore import volumes fell in the first seven months of the year, according to the latest Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) data sent to S&P Global Platts. Turkish mills' overall January-July crude steel output declined 2.4% on year to 19.4 million mt, while the country imported 5.75 million mt of iron ore in that period, down from 6.23 million mt imported in the same period the previous year.
