Singapore—Taiwan’s leading electric arc furnace steelmaker, Feng Hsin Iron and Steel, raised its bid for local scrap by T$300/mt ($10/mt), effective Aug. 25, as seaborne prices remained strong, a source from the company said Aug. 24. After the hike, the company's bid for local HMS I/II 80:20 would be at T$8,200/mt ($280/mt), up T$300/mt from Aug. 17, for deliveries to its Taichung mill. Over Aug 3-24, Feng Hsin kept its bid unchanged at T$7,900/mt, but will raise it from Aug. 25 to keep pace with the uptrend seen in the seaborne market, the source said.
