London—South Africa miner Merafe Resources’ third-quarter ferrochrome production fell 28.6% year on year to 60,000 mt, the company said Monday. The Johannesburg-listed miner said in a statement that the decrease was the result of “increased planned maintenance, increased community unrest as well as production cutbacks in response to market conditions during the third quarter ended September 30.”
