Guinea opens tender for Simandou iron ore blocks: report

London—The government of Guinea has invited bids from interested parties to operate blocks 1 and 2 of its major Simandou iron ore deposit, Reuters reported, citing Abdoulaye Magassouba, the mines and geology minister of the west African country. Sources with knowledge of the matter however told S&P Global Platts that it might not be easy to find a developer given the “large chunk of money” that is likely to be asked by the government for related infrastructure development.
