Asia met coal PLV price moves lower

Singapore—Seaborne metallurgical coal prices inched lower in the Premium Low Vol segments as Chinese buyers wait on the sidelines given the decline in the domestic coking coal and coke markets. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low Vol down 25 cents at $166.75/mt CFR China, and the PLV FOB Australia prices fell $1.50/mt to $149.75/mt Tuesday. The FOB market saw further softening Tuesday as both buy and sell indications moved lower for the Premium Low Vol segment. With the absence of demand from ex-China markets, market participants are looking at the Chinese buyers to book cargoes and set the spot prices.
