US booking revives Turkish steel scrap import market

London—A fresh US sale revived activity in the Turkish scrap import market Wednesday after a long standoff had resulted in little trading the last two weeks. S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20) at $290/mt CFR Wednesday, unchanged on the day. One US recycler did a deal late on Tuesday, consisting of 20,000 mt shred and 20,000 mt HMS 1/2 (90:10) at 294/mt CFR average for end-August shipment as confirmed by the buyer.
