E Asia bulk HMS scrap rebounds ahead of Lunar New Year

The East Asian bulk HMS market rebounded this week as prices rose by $21.5/ mt, on the back of tighter scrap supply from the US, and the continued bullish sentiment in the Turkish market, regional sources said. S&P Global Platts assessed the East Asia bulk HMS I/II 80:20 price at $320-$325/mt CFR Wednesday, with a midpoint of $322.5/ mt, up $21.5/mt from the previous week. Although offers for US-origin bulk continued to remain unheard in the East Asia market this week, offers from Europe and Australia came in to fill the gap with higher prices.
