Import prices for scrap to Turkey fell further Thursday as further weakness in the lira restrained buying interest from Turkish steelmakers. S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20) at $296/mt CFR Thursday, down $1/ mt from Wednesday. As the lira dropped to a new eight- month low Thursday — trading around 6.24/US$ throughout the day — some mills held off from buying.
