Anglo set to boost iron ore output after Minas-Rio restart

Anglo American expects to boost iron ore output from its Kumba and Minas- Rio mines to around 64 million mt in 2019, up from 46.5 million mt last year, following the Minas-Rio restart in Brazil in December and completion of a ship loader refurbishment at Saldanha port in South Africa, the company said in a production report Thursday. The company foresees output of 43 million-44 million mt iron ore at its Kumba mine in South Africa and 18 million - 20 million mt at Minas-Rio, slightly higher than previously stated, it said. In addition, 2019 unit cost guidance was reduced to $28-31 per mt (previously $30-33 per mt), it said.
