Turkish import steel scrap prices jump

Import prices for Turkish ferrous scrap rose sharply following fresh procurement deals that were reported to the market Wednesday. S&P Global Platts assessed Turkish imports of premium heavy melting scrap 1/2 (80:20) at $287.75/mt CFR Wednesday, up $6.50/mt from Tuesday. One North-American merchant sold a 50,000 mt cargo to a Marmara-based mill 17,000- 20,000 mt HMS 1/2 (90:10), 5,000 mt P&S and balance shred at $294/mt CFR average, suggesting an equivalent HMS 1/2 (80:20) price of around $288/mt CFR according to Platts methodology.The deal was confirmed with the seller.
