Vale denies Itaguaí ore terminal closure, but adjustments expected

Brazilian iron ore miner Vale said Friday that, contrary to market talk, it will not idle its Itaguaí shipping terminal but instead adjust the terminal’s export operations over coming months according to ore availability. “Vale's operations at the Itaguaí Terminal and the Guaíba Island Terminal in Rio de Janeiro will be adjusted to the supply of ore in the coming months due to the reduction in production caused by the mines and dams shutdown in Minas Gerais,” Vale told S&P Global Platts in an emailed statement.
