The Capesize market in the Asia-Pacific was active Monday with vessels sought for the Western Australian to Qingdao route — and the surge in activity came even as Cyclone Wallace threatened port operations along the coast of Pilbara in Western Australia. “The [cyclone] path isn’t going to hit West Australia, so it shouldn’t have much impact,” said a ship broker. According to Australia’s Bureau of Meteorology, Cyclone Wallace is forecast to remain well offshore and is not expected to impact the Western Australian coast.
