Singapore—Taiwan domestic heavy melting scrap prices rose week on week as buying activity increased for Taiwanese rebar, market sources said.Major mini-mill Feng Hsin Iron and Steel raised its domestic scrap buying price to T$9,000/mt ($289/mt) for HMS I/II 80:20 delivered to its Taichung mill, effective July 9, up T$300/mt from a week ago, a company source said Monday. "We concluded quite a few [rebar] deals last week at higher prices, so we are raising our scrap buying prices in line with that."
